Curious if trunk was considered over main? If so what gave main the edge?

github went with main, main has fewer characters, the entry point to most programming languages is main. It starts with an "m" so it has a smaller Levenshtein distance ;p

When I first heard “trunk” as a non-programmer (baby programmer maybe) the first thing I thought of when I heard “trunk” in relation to code was “car trunk”. Like, oh, that’s where you throw all your random shit.
