At a keynote at FOSDEM in 2015, Larry *did* say it was going to be Christmas 2015. And Perl 6 *was* released at Christmas 2015. Unfortunately, FOSDEM managed to botch recording of that keynote so badly, that there is no recording of that keynote at all. It was just streamed.
