hey here's a fun riddle - I am almost 27 - I currently live with my mom. I don't pay any household bills. i'm not on the deed. - my lease on my rented house in abq expires on dec 31 on Jan 1, 2021, what is my legal domicile?

Your house in Albuquerque. It's the only place where your name is on the lease/mortage/deed, and you clearly pass the substantial presence test.

This is for the year of 2020. You don't have a legal residence for tax purposes on any single day. What it will be for all of 2021 will depend on where/how you live for that entire year

right. if I remain in Michigan b/c I don't get relocated, I'm unsure how to show to the state that I am a resident with my mom, I'm not her dependent and I'm not a paying tenant. "that's the address at which I am paid" has been a common refrain so that'd probably do it
