I definitely didn't mean this as a dig at the folks responsible for the name, and I hope it didn't come off that way. It's definitely a hard method to name.

no worries. it came up in my rust github notifications inbox recently because of the related methods on Result that were put in at the same time and i read through the threads for its original PR and tracking issue just now to make sure i remembered who named it

100% agree. I'm glad it exists, even with a name I don't like. (I'm sure the names I like more were discussed, and there are clear arguments against them)

I definitely had to look up what it even was the first time I saw it, but it's common enough that once you know it exists you'll remember
