Just saw this take "your grandpa who fought in WW2 was an antifascist" My grandpa fought in WW2, but he was also a racist piece of shit who used the n-word like nothing, even on his own great-grandchildren who had Black heritage. He helped elect our fascist leadership today.
My grandfather is a holocaust survivor, who came to America after being released from a concentration camp. He was also a hardcore Republican who absolutely would have voted for Trump were he alive in 2016
Mine voted that way in 2016. He was also a wild conspiracy theory who would have been all into some of the shit going around now if he were still alive. I wouldn't say I celebrated his passing, but I also can't say I felt terribly mournful.
