does anyone have strong opinions about panic behavior? disclaimer: I'm not advocating for changes to panic behavior in std or elsewhere, that said.. I am of the opinion that panics should bring down the process immediately, from any thread, panic=abort is the better default imo

If a developer makes a mistake or some library has a panic we didn't catch, I don't want my entire web server to be brought down.

A thread/tosk local panic would be nice. Like...sure, throw away that stack and start from scratch, but keep the show going.

As long as you don't compile with panic=abort, that's what it is today, isn't it?

And you don't want to abruptly abort the entire thread either. Abruptly halting the TCP connection would be bad, you want to show a 500 error, and ideally the threads should be able to recover with minimal outside monitoring
