does anyone have strong opinions about panic behavior? disclaimer: I'm not advocating for changes to panic behavior in std or elsewhere, that said.. I am of the opinion that panics should bring down the process immediately, from any thread, panic=abort is the better default imo

And you don't want to abruptly abort the entire thread either. Abruptly halting the TCP connection would be bad, you want to show a 500 error, and ideally the threads should be able to recover with minimal outside monitoring

Hmm, you're right. I guess it depends how a Web stack is implemented then, because ive had not so great experiences with different Web servers before.
