It is ridiculous that I can move to Canada and still vote, I can be in space and still vote, but if I move to Puerto Rico I cannot vote.

i was explaining this to a non-citizen friend and it took extremely long for her to process this because she thought that I was saying that those *born* in PR can't vote, because that would be the "logical" (still shitty) one

Yeah, I find it interesting that folks think those born in the territories are anything other than full American citizens with the same rights as any other American citizen.

Wikipedia claims those born in Guam are American citizens by birth. I think you've got this backwards, American Samoa is a special case of the only territory where you are not granted citizenship at birth

it's true for the USMOI as well various territories have explicitly been given citizenship. it seems like right now it's most of the ones where people live, except Samoa and Swains
