macOS/iterm get away with so much by having their system shortcuts be key combinations that don't interact with the terminal.

Right now any time there's a conflict between ctrl+{key that was used with cmd on mac} and terminal interactions, I'm binding it to alt... Not sure if I'm going to regret this or not.

Good idea. The elementary folks have an option in their terminal emulator that tries to be smart about what Ctrl-c does (when there’s a selection copy, otherwise behave normally). Maybe I could add this to Alacritty…
