A more applicable answer to your question though, I think generally nothing but good comes from folks being open about this. Early in my career I was making ~30 for far too long and only learned that was low from folks sharing with me.

IIRC you were raising some concerns about folks having their publicly shared salary used against them in the future, which I think is valid. But assuming you're in a position of privilege to be picky, you probably don't want to be at the co that dug through your twitter to loball

Oddly enough, and I think companies don’t realise it, the number at the end of the payslips doesn’t matter as much as the feeling that it’s fair compared to others.

100% -- though this dynamic changes when folks are willing to talk about their compensation publicly, meaning others starts to include folks at similar roles in other companies. That said, any situation where a diverse group of folks make the same for the same job is good
