What happens when a candidate with delegates drops out? What happens to their delegates?
The candidate can choose to release the delegates, in which case they can vote for whoever they choose. Historically the candidate endorses someone else and asks their delegates to vote for that person, but that's not binding (in many states, the delegates aren't bound anyway)

If the candidate doesn't release their delegates, they will still cast their vote for the candidate who dropped out (and may be required by law to do so depending on the state)
