Sass doesn't really do anything for me that I can't already do in CSS. (there, I said it)

Nesting is nice, but it's a footgun I'm starting to think most people shouldn't have. It's very easy to nest too much and it tends to lead to issues with overriding specificity down the line.

Nesting is convenient for BEM - doesn’t have to be used for nested selectors:`foo { &__bar { … } }` Or stuff like `a { … &, &:hover { … } }`

Is CSS *that* unreadable though? Most people I know that use Sass use the SCSS syntax, which is already 90% CSS anyway, with the semicolons and braces and all that.
