I appreciate that there are many sides to some issues:
* Rust people who hate deps and want everything in std (more like C++)
* C++ people who recommend an external library to me every time I complain about an issue I'm having 
*whispers*std is still a dep, you just don't have as much control over it as other crates

Lol oh I know. That's the justification for my workplace not using the STL

The STL was built on some really weird design decisions that do make it hard to use for all purposes. (but also I've stopped programming in C++ unless strictly necessary and do not miss it)
