SDKROOT should be the only thing you need to set for typical compiling needs

“Different from every other UNIX flavor” would be one thing, but most people who say that actually mean “different from Linux,” which is a single not-even-UNIX flavor.

fair enough but "find and install the secret package to get /usr/include" and then a few years later "fuck /usr/include entirely" is a bit much

Problem is the ecosystem doesn’t do any one single thing.

TBC I’m not saying the way SDKs work on Apple platforms is great, I’m just trying to lead folks to the path of least resistance that I know of
