You can sort of do that in Workers using Atomics, but I'm glad JS discourages blocking main thread.
I'm all for discouraging. But it shouldn't be impossible. Just name it `im_aware_this_will_freeze_the_browser_but_please_block_on_this_promise_kthx`
As practice shows, not making something possible is the only way to discourage something in JavaScript (or, really, anywhere). Otherwise people will always find a use case and wrap into a nicely named package :)
