geometric growth of what? binary artifact file size? compilation times?
I do think that dismissing this as "only for interpreted high level languages" completely dismisses the point though. Dependencies exist, being afraid of them in 2019 is ridiculous. There are legit concerns, but dismissing a language for having a package manager is ridiculous

I'll mention that Mozilla is in a similar place, though we still use Cargo. Large codebases have a lot of bespoke requirements, both from the language POV and the tooling POV.

No one dismisses Rust out right. The question is how easy is it for an average engineer to make a costly mistake? It's irresponsible to not consider such a possibility, both for our customers and the company. That doesn't diminish our belief in and desire to participate in OSS.
