I think we need to change the way we think about travel to the extent that travelling for a day or two to get half way across the continent is something people are OK with. Because the trip is part of the experience. Because they have enough holiday to not care about it (!)
But most importantly, because, unless there is an emergency, we really should stop endulging a culture that demands we zap from one end of the planet to the other constantly. Sure, there'll always be flights for _emergencies_. ...Me going from Edinburgh to Berlin ain't one.
