Interesting thing happened yesterday -- friend mentioned the potential of a strenuous Yosemite hike tomorrow , and I said yes. Didn't end up working out (not enough space), but it was kinda surprising to me that I said yes so quickly.

I said yes to doing a strenuous (known) hike basically one day in advance, when I had a work trip starting Monday.

Two years ago I would have been much more apprehensive for much easier hikes, planning well in advance and definitely not doing it when I have anything important on Monday, let alone a flight to catch.

This isn't me being less cautious, this is just me being much much better at hiking and also having understood my limits to the level that I know when caution isn't needed.

I've done a couple of Mt Tam hikes where I only knew I was doing the hike the evening before, and the only reason I had to plan an evening in advance was because I like to wake up early for this

It seems like id totally do this for Yosemite too if it weren't much harder to get to. Idk, it's interesting to notice progress markers like this
