Right now the main blocker is getting buy-in from the rest of the team. I've tried to promote this in the past, but last time it was tried at least one other prominent member of the team shot it down and it sorta stalled
"main blocker" maybe isn't the right term, but that'd be the first step. I don't want to make the mistake of encouraging someone to spend time on this just to have it shot down again

It's a chicken and egg problem. I'm not going to be able to get buy in when there's no clear path to actually getting it done. If you wanted to come to our upcoming meetings and push for it I'd be happy to help however I can
