it's in the nature of open source that people are going to use your work for things you don't want, but I feel like directly serving the needs of such organisations is a different question?

Just because someone works for company X doesn't mean that their PR was done on company time or is serving the needs of company X.

it's not a PR, it's a feature request, they're asking to do work for them. even if it were a PR that still comes with a maintenance burden

I guess my point is that I wouldn't assume a person interacting with your project is doing so on behalf of their company. People exist independently of their jobs, even if their OSS interactions and job responsibilities sometimes overlap
