in ruby it would be: nearest = self.models .map { |model| model.intersect(ray) } .compact .min_by(&:first) so about the same thing, we need an extra call to deal with nils

I hadn't even considered that you could use `flat_map` for options. (There's also `filter_map` which will do the same thing as `flat_map` with an option but is a bit more explicit)

I'm unreasonably annoyed that you can't use "sort_by_key" because f64 doesn't implement Cmp

Yeah, I had it in my head that the `unwrap` could somehow be removed because `Option`'s `Ord` impl is right and then you could use `sort_by_key` because of that but of course that's complete nonsense.
