So my fellow Sekiro players...roll call and status? I am alternating between dying against Genichiro, dying against Lady Butterfly, or dying against that big dude in full plate armor. Beaten all mini-bosses to this point. No idea how far through the game I am.

Yeah I skipped him and found the broken wall leading to Genichiro, then doubled back to "scour" the area we do. The shortcut past Jinsuke is convenient. Up to these bosses, I've done a pretty good job of scouring every inch of what I can get to.
If you want a checklist of optional/meant to be visited later places that you can get to now: - Old Grave idol in castle (vendor there w/ prosthetic upgrade) - Gun Fort idol in Sunken Valley - Hidden Forest idol in Depths - Bell Demon idol in Senpou - Main Temple idol in Senpou

Yeah definitely! I'm not being an offline purist because I find I enjoy the game more if I don't spend hours and hours re-covering areas to find one missing thing.
