yup. Arc gives u send and Mutex gives u sync.

given mutexes are precisely for synchronising threads, why do you need to wrap it in an Arc

No, Arc doesn't make a non-send value send. It just gives you multiple owners in a thread safe way. Mutexes give you mutable access in a thread safe way
