Some odd negativity in replies here, SQL is good, what
SQL is good. Concatenating strings in leu of a query builder is not. Folks assume the latter means that SQL is never the answer

Any ORM that provides a query builder should also have a good story for working with raw SQL. I think there's places where both are appropriate personally
