I've never noticed this before, but you're right. It's pretty generous horizontally, but vertically it's like 3 pixels

I think that's true as much as it will be on Mac. Consistent for apps using the system UI, but some apps have rolled their own. FWIW of the apps I have open right now (Chrome, Task Manager, Sticky Notes, Steam, Discord, Explorer) only Steam is different

Yeah, Steam is the same on Mac and Windows. Different from system behavior on both
