I don't like benchmarks given in "x" notation (i.e. 2x faster). I prefer benchmarks given in percent notation (i.e. 50% faster). Why? Percent is a linear scale and has a maximum (if you make something 100% faster, you deleted it).

Wait, is this right. If I am going 50 kph, then accelerate to 100 kph, I’m going 100% faster...

If you're going from Austin to Houston at 50kph and it takes 2 hours, if you drive at 100kph then it will take 1 hour i.e. you're going to get there 50% faster.
