Interesting how price expectations have changed. In 2007, the original iPhone cost $400 and was considered crazy expensive for the time. Now $750 is Apple's "budget" option.

Off contract was an option, just not unlocked off contract. You had to root phones to achieve it. I did this for a living for a while. So you could buy unsubsidized but it was your problem to deal with.

My point was more that it was interesting how $400 for a phone (on contract even) was considered insanely expensive in 2007, and nobody bats an eye at the cheapest option today being introduced at $750. Wasn't criticizing Apple, just making an observation about expectations
