Re: the @elonmusk submarine, rescue operations are uncertain and unstable environments. Many solutions can and should be cultivated. The “right” solution is never a sure thing until all subjects rescued. Until then, no solutions are to be rejected.

Speaking as someone who has been “unnecessary” on several SAR missions. The information situation in a rescue is so fluid, so uncertain. If you have a resource at the scene, nothing to be gained from rejecting it.
