What's going on with immigration right now is absolutely terrible, but equating it with the atrocities committed during the holocaust is not OK. These children are not being sent to gas chambers or being buried in mass graves.

No, it's not. And there are some scary parallels between then and now, but in my opinion, the use of terms like that for this situation does more to cheapen history than draw that connection

The way I interpret this is not that we’re at that place now, but that it certainly looks like we’re going that direction. And if we as a society truly believe in “never again,” then we have to stop it before it gets to that place.

The Nazis didn't start with mass atrocities right off the bat. They literally started with stuff like this. Little steps that were really bad, but not thaaaaaat much worse. Over and over until it WAS that much worse.
