This is a standalone Ph.D. program in political economy—staffed by faculty in Political Science and the Harris School but distinct from Ph.D. programs in those units. (Alongside the creation of the new program, the PE track of the Harris Ph.D. program will be discontinued.) 2/

There are so many exciting opportunities to use the tools of game theory and empirical methods of causal inference to study politics. We encourage students to pursue research wherever their intellectual interests lie. 7/

And part of it is working with faculty from early in the program on one's own research projects. We want students to come out of their second year with research that they can present at conferences. 9/

Not least, students will receive strong financial support. They will learn how to teach but not be overburdened with teaching. Stipends will be very competitive. 11/
