    As we observe the Loma Prieta Earthquake 30th anniversary, we recall acts of courage, selflessness and teamwork. That's how firefighters and volunteers saved the Marina District from burning down — with help from a boat called the Phoenix.

  12. Public Works is developing a new Fireboat Station 35 at Pier 22 1/2, funded by the 2014 Earthquake Safety & Emergency Response bond. The Phoenix fireboat helped save the lives of many San Franciscans 30 years ago when hit.
