F.A.Q. "Can I apply to SFPC without an art portfolio or coding skills?" Yes, please do! We aim to become an accessible and inclusive learning environment. Apply by Jan 31, 2020 for Spring 2020

Some students have experience in art or technology, but many students try creative work for the first time at SFPC or consider career change from the tech to more creative fields. We welcome applicants without portfolio or tech skills because the diversity among the students is very important for us.
    Happy computer person!

Day 13: “Space is an Ecology of Our Systems” encouraged us to think of spaces and systems, not just as oppressive structures we push up against, but also as possibilities we, too, can create.

If the Internet is based on trust, it is important that we create and push for an environment that keeps us safe. In Between Me and You: Encryption, Proxies, VPNs and Privacy, discussed how and why to use VPNs, Proxies, and Tor. What tools do you use?

Day 9: Using cybernetics as a framework for (un)learning and (re)building, and guided fellow co-learners in their understanding of race/ism and sex/ism in relation to computation in their class “Cybernetics of Race/ism and Sex/ism."

  15. 15. sij

Day 8: Kameelah Rasheed's class, “The Unfinished Sentence: Algorithmic Text Generation” was all play! Co-learners used tools such as Cut-Up Machine, Talk to Transformer & Botnik Studios to experience the process of creating unfinished work.

In yesterday's Radical Hardware class w/, we made paper circuits with LEDs, resistors, & conductive tape. We learned about the materiality of computers, engaging with coding not through a screen but by constructing the actual parts that make our screens run.

We’re recording the Critical Theory panel today and will put it online for anyone who missed it.
