      You can hear me telling him that the cops are coming and he just answered "Yeah, I'm staying here". Then he finally cut the lock, got on the bike and just rode by me smiling. The owner of the bike came literally 30 sec later. The cops came 10 min later and we filed the report.

      It wаs all too late. The guy and the bike were gone. The owner said it was his birthday today. Cops were visibly annoyed dealing with it. What amazed me is: a) the brazenness of the thief, he literally didn't care.

      b) Even more annoying was how many people walked by, mostly men while I was trying to make the thief abandon the idea and leave. I told everyone who passed by: "Look this guy is stealing someone's bike." No one cared. All pretended like they can't hear me.

      This is SF for you - a combination of criminals who don't care about consequences (because frankly, they know there are none) and passive SFans who only care when it concerns them personally. Because of SFans like that we have BOS and DA like we do now.
