Dear Governor & CA Legislators: Going out on a limb here, but I think we have figured out what stops evictions. This one’s a shocker: It’s called an eviction ban. To save some time I’ll even write it for you: “Evictions are banned.” lmk if you have questions. Thanks!

I'm not Dean but, hit me — why shouldn't we ban evictions?

I'll refer you again to that basic economics course, but, briefly, to have a functioning economy, people have to pay for the goods and services traded within it. Sorry.

I've taken macro, micro, and labor econ but admittedly I am fairly dumb: can you spell it out for me more? There are lots of goods and services people don't pay for — do you drive a car?

Business ventures have inherent risk. Real estate has inherent risk. No risk no gain. The landlords lose life savings (allegedly) and the tenants lose…basic shelter? What should they do?

What if we ban foreclosures at the same time? Again, what should the evicted tenants do?

The evicted tenants should figure out their own life because they are adults.
