We have a hearing on this proposal, authored by Sup Mandelman, tomorrow. If passed, "San Francisco would have to provide every unsheltered homeless person a sanctioned area to live in a tent known as safe sleeping sites." So far it seems the response has been, mostly, not positive. I'm hearing concerns about cost, & generally people feeling housing or even hotels or navigation centers are preferred solutions. I know there are some folks who support it but say that we need this AND other options.

I see some misconceptions about my legislation in the thread. It doesn’t preclude other exits from the street, including housing, hotels & nav centers, but requires a plan to address the full scale of our crisis. You are all way out of your league. This is a total humanitarian disaster that a couple local “supes” will not be able to fix with tents and good intentions.
