Plenty of tech companies that don't have big cafeterias still bring in catering every day. Don't see how this will really stop companies from offering free food as a benefit.

So, um, how is this not crony capitalism? And is the city going to pass a law against catering? It sounds like the Supes are just realizing the Twitter tax break was never going to work in their favor, and now are very mad.

@aaronpeskin@Ahsha_Safai. look around@airbnb or@dropbox office. where would a couple thousand people go eat lunch every day? hope@LondonBreed will stop this in its tracks. -
so it becomes such a pain in the ass to go out to lunch that people bring lunch to work. So both the caterers and the restaurants die off.

There is an alternative solution: Have "food courts" at large employers that are run by local businesses. Basically they would function as a "pop up" locations of local eateries. These could be changed on a rotating basis. Employers could still subsidize the meals.
