The Street Drug habits are costing junkies $150/day -crime rises as junkies steal & do sex work to fund habits. I don’t know how many “functional” meth, fentanyl or heroin addicts exist in the world but from my observation they seem lower functioning that functional alcoholics.

That's because you only see the homeless persons on the streets who use illegal substances. You call them 'junkies'. You don't know ANYTHING about addicts who have the class privilege of using at home. Are they also junkies? In short: there's more alcoholics than junkies in USA.

I don’t doubt it. I think of a junkie as someone who will do anything to score their next hit - hurting themselves and others to do it. There are plenty of rich junkies.

For certain the rich junkies r not getting richer. Some may end up on the streets & in SISs. But till then they don't bother us unless they r family or friends. Addiction like most other illnesses is democratic but the outcomes r harsher for the chronically poor or homeless.

Definitely. Like any disease. If you have resources and a supportive network your odds of getting better are so much greater.
