@frankbullitt5 I have been a honest supporter of @chesaboudin for about 18 months. Check out this post when I got the opportunity to vote in person with the rest of his election team. My pinned post.https://twitter.com/netfire4/status/1191449357377097729 …

So hopeful to vote with @chesaboudin for the criminal justice reform we need in san francisco. https://twitter.com/chesaboudin/status/1189406734898458626 …

I understand what you are saying about criminal justice reform, but letting everyone go, as he as done, calling victims of crime and trying to get them to drop charges in favor of "restorative justice" isn't reform. It's not anything. Sounds good in theory, not good in practice.

@StephenMPinto What we have been doing with our criminal justice system is not only prohibitively expensive, without historic precedent it is obviously counter productive, modern slavery is being sold to us under false pretenses. Chesa might not be perfect but its time to start.

For profit rehab has to be as expensive or more as jails since same companies run them and detention centers too. Do you have research to support that chesas drug courts and mandatory rehab plans are cheaper than jail?

I don’t care what is more or less expensive the question is what will make this madness stop

For that you care about efficacy of treatment or cure, so that the madness and incentives to lawless behavior do not persist. Me too, its how we get there that we disagree. I do not think what we have been doing with our prohibitionary war on drugs has incentivized dealing.

I got some of it wrong of course but I'll take it none the less. I think when we use force on drug dealers we drive up prices and this incentive exceeds any incentive we could apply with a moral criminal justice system. Profit motive exceeds risk of cushy imprisonment.

I think I heard @JohnSungKim say fentanyl is basically free? Not sure how much drugs cost as I’m not a user, but how do you drive up the cost of drugs?

While fentanyl is basically free to produce, As @MyTwolffamily will comment street prices for usage are as much as 150$ per day of usage in places with as moderate of police force and much higher elsewhere. When its cheaper usage doesn't substantially increase, eliminate crime!

I heard our Mayor propose a plan to pay drug dealers to do jobs where they’d make as much as dealing and wondered how much is that?

The dealers I used to.hold for made anywhere from $500-1500 a day. 6 days a week. Tax free. Some made less. It depends on their shift. Swing shift 2p-10p made a ton as well as the overnight guys.

Some of these dealers are making $300-400k all cash??! Damn !! Guess the idea to pay dealers not to deal isn’t too practical.
