This is the sharpest movie of the Sun ever made. Even at this fine resolution, the scale is enormous; each plasma cell here is about the size of Texas. via

Just did a `cloc node_modules` on my little TypeScript/React project (4k LoC). Apparently I have 2.7 million lines of code as a dependency. Send help.

I just learned that the app I probably use the most on Mac, , is no longer maintained. There is hope though: I switched to and I'm loving it (and it's OSS!).

It takes light 8 minutes to travel from the sun to the Earth, but it takes about 100,000 years to exit the sun! Photons in the sun follow a random walk as they scatter off charged particles. This momentum exchange supplies the radiation pressure which keeps the sun "inflated"!

Also, between Ring’s disgusting collaboration with the police, their horrendous track record on protecting users from camera take-overs, and now this revelation that employees have access video, you should not let any Ring products in or outside your house.

don't know why so many news networks -- not just fox -- insist on putting a low-budget action movie score on all of their war coverage. it's like they think war is exciting and cool, instead of wholesale slaughter and suffering.

Still, although I agree with the sentiment, I don’t agree on all points. Sometimes the efficient thing is to *actually* use the current bloated tool chain.

This is the situation in Mallacoota at the moment. A mother and her kids are sheltering in their boat on the water. People are reporting the sound of gas bottles exploding in town and quite a few homes have been burnt.

Scientists in Sweden have created a liquid that can absorb solar energy and store it as a thermal fuel for as long as 18 years. The fluid works like a rechargeable battery, but instead of electricity, sunlight goes in and heat comes out when it's needed.
