Very happy to share our new preprint! Animals have a remarkable capacity to learn new motor skills, but how does learning change neural population dynamics underlying movement?

I've been trying to sneak this approach into manuscripts for a while now... it's encouraging to see a journal on board and I hope others follow suit. An almost-free way to support larger, collaborative projects.

Great postdoc opportunity in Nuyujukian lab at Stanford: they're looking to hire a computational postdoc for a study analyzing intracortical neuroelectrophysiology data recorded from people with refractory epilepsy. Posting here: . Paul is a superb mentor!

We spoke with HHMI Investigator , , and Jaimie Henderson about their team’s unexpected find – that a brain region that controls hand and arm movement also is active during speech:

Also it was a pleasure working with added authors Guy Wilson () and Shaul Druckmann to expand the work! Looking forward to continuing with some very cool new and related projects : )

Just out: Neurons in a brain region called the hand knob are active during speech, and their signals can be decoded to reveal the word or sound uttered.

I had so much fun talking with and about their new work decoding brain signals linked to speech. We talked about neural implants, BrainGate2, and, of course, the homunculus.
