What I've learned from the last few days of the abortion debate on Twitter: 1) Most 'pro-choice' Leftists have NO IDEA AT ALL how seriously the 'pro-life' Right takes this issue as ethically foundational (not just as a religious doctrine) 2) See point 1 again

Each side of the abortion debate mischaracterizes the other side’s position: 1. “Pro-choice people just want consequence-free sex & the destruction of the traditional family.” 2. “Pro-life peope just want to control women’s lives by controlling their bodies.” Wrong and wrong.

It moves into the realm of the “struggle between the forces for good and evil” very quickly. Which absolves everyone of moral responsibility to treat the other side fairly.

The thing about one's 'right' to kill one's offspring is that individual rights don't exist outside of the religious framework. See: the right's political rights. The only rights that are stable today are those which are socially destructive, not those which provide real liberty.
