Prior to voting yes on the motion to proceed on debate on the Jan 6 commission, Majority Leader assured me that he supported including the proposed amendment by which addresses many of my concerns as outlined in my statement.

Senator Portman is the only Senator to stand up to Organized Crime Syndicates since Bobby Kennedy. The rest of the political landscape is more or less a lobbying arm for Organized Crime under #section230 which places commerce above the law.

While I appreciate his vote for this, he still made it clear that he was giving himself a way to vote "No" on the actual commission. What he really wants is for Republicans to control who's on the staff, which is not how these commissions were run when Republicans were in charge.

Don’t expect kudos on finally choosing country over party when the entire reason a 1/6 commission is needed in the first place is because you chose party over country for years. But hey...good for you for doing what you’re supposed to be doing

Thank you for voting to end debate. I don't expect every senator to be aligned with every bill I support, but constantly preventing bills from being voted on to begin with is cowardly.

You did the right thing. Why does it take retirement to put countryover party and job? The GOP has serious issues.
