Hatch in 2016: “I’m one of the biggest advocates for the filibuster. It’s the only way to protect the minority, and we’ve been in the minority a lot more than we’ve been in the majority. It’s just a great, great protection for the minority.”http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2016/11/two-senior-republican-senators-say-the-filibuster-must-stay.html …

Sen. Hatch, just one question. By "sliding towards liberalism" do you mean Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, voting rights, ADA, unemployment benefits & the Affordable Care Act?
-
No, he means unsustainable tax and spend programs and one sided legislation.
-
Like the corporate tax cuts they passed and the trillions they have spent on wars while cutting taxes?
-
Yeah i love these republicans who still think its liberals who run up the debt. Even after Reagan, ghwb, and bush jr all raised debt and then raised taxes. Republicans only live off of slogans not reality.
-
Both sides do it. It's just the libs who do it faster. "Free" health care, "free" college, guaranteed minimum income, tax the rich till there are no more rich
-
Socialised healthcare has been proven to be more effective and cheaper than our current system. And the college thing doesnt even come close to the cost of our endless wars and corporate welfare. Time to use facts instead of still thinking politics is a game. Grow up.
-
I think you are mistaken. Universal health care would cost the US 33 trillion with a t over 10 years.
-
What we have now is costing people their lives! All that seems to matter is money?Mean while, we have people accumulating billions of dollars in wealth. No Christian values demonstrated here and the politicians who support "free market" health care claim they are Christian.

The one who needs to compromise is the President. He is the one who backed out of the original deal you owe him nothing. Check him.
-
Pay attention to facts -- Schumer backed away -- he had a chance for 1.8 million DACA recipients to have path to citizenship in exchange for wall. Schumer, then as now, WILL NOT fund a wall. President ran and won on it. WE NEED SECURITY -- Hope the gov. shuts down til that's done
-
Wrong. Trump ran on Mexico paying for the wall, not taxpayers. You people conveniently seem to forget that.
-
If you believe anyone expected a check from Mexico before we built the wall your naive. No one believed that however I’m sure you know that and just hate Trump.
-
The way MAGAs cheered at rallies it seemed like you believed it but ok fine you’re not naive. If Mexico wouldn’t pay upfront why do you think they would reimburse us after it’s built?
-
Who cares? It was never about Mexico paying for it. That was Trump hyperbole. Building a wall to protect our borders, stop the abuse from human trafficking as well as make it harder for narcotics to get through. If he was able to get them to pay for it later then good on him.
-
What’s the cost both monetarily and human life if we continue down the path we are?
