the homerun will certainly cover anything else, but I think they have 10+ crypto investments that still have amazing upside, not to mention GP slugs in funds
Thought I had swirling around my head all day.. and still now. There are many great VC funds, but very few who lead thematically & get entire industry to re-think: @USV led in '04 w/ social, communities, networks; '12 w/ crypto; today making a statement w/ climate.

When people think of venture investing in climate, I think it's classically though of as solar or energy deals like in the mid-2000s. But there are many ways to invest in reducing climate impacts (e.g. plant-based foods, urbanism, forms of transport that emit less, etc.)

yes. part of it is how broad it is now. part of it is marketing, which is clever. part of it is a melding of interests in an authentic way

I’m glad they’ve jumped in, but the climate VC landscape has been growing for some time now. Powerhouse, Greentown Labs, BlueBear, Blackhorn, EIP, EIC have all been on this for awhile. It’s great to have capital that’s new and seeing it with eyes but others have led the way.

Obviously they don’t have the brand or track record of a USV but I think it’s worth acknowledging the work they’ve done to bring awareness to the industry that was left for dead by VC years ago.

@USV one of best VCs around. Great humans, caring + smart. W crypto & climate tho... crypto (esp BTC) just sucks for the environment. So, a way of caring for climate may be ... divesting from crypto investments??
