NEW: It's not just Democrats who want more information about the TRUMP administration's move to lift sanctions on Russian oligarch OLEG DERIPASKA's businesses. The GOP staff of the Senate Banking Committee is working with Dems to review the decision.

Mitch McConnell voted 6 times to raise his own pay and 15 times against raising the minimum wage. Kentucky has voted for him for 34 years making him the 11th richest senator, while Kentucky remains the 7th poorest state. Kentucky - PLEASE - repeal & replace McConnell in 2020...

Paul Whelan might not be a spy. But his story is very weird.

A weird feature of contemporary American politics is that Republicans now just constantly characterize the immigration policy status quo as “open borders” and everyone accepts it.

“Newly surfaced e-mails show that the former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, & Cambridge Analytica, the Big Data company that he worked for at the time, were simultaneously incubating both nationalist political movements [Brexit and Trump’s campaign] in 2015.”

The Republican Senate already voted (100 to 0) in late December to keep the government open without any money for the wall. The Constitution allows them to override a presidential veto. They could reopen the government immediately just by voting for a bill they already voted for.

Would you rather watch this cute cat video or a Member of Congress talking about Hillary's emails? That's why the GOP effort to regulate free speech on social media is so stupid. Twitter, Facebook & Google are not discriminating against GOP lawmakers, but the public is.

6/ By the way, the only reason we’re even talking about whether a sitting president can be indicted is because Congress failed in its job. Had the president been removed when his involvement with Russia was uncovered, he wouldn’t be a sitting president at indictment time.

16/ When all the votes are counted, there are always more opponents to fascism. “When all the votes are counted” is one tricky part. Voting as a block is another. If opponents of fascism vote in big enough numbers, they can offset any law breaking to fix the election.

(Thread) Authoritarians v. Conservatives The Trump-GOP is no longer a conservative party. It's an authoritarian party. Sort of what Flake tried to describe here: Here’s what that means for the midterms & generally.

5/ Income inequality opened between business tycoons and laborers, who worked long hours in dangerous jobs at poverty wages. Notice: When slaveowners had power, they voted to consolidate their power. Now industrialists did the same. Democracy tends to slide to oligarchy.

(Thread) Rolling back the clock Senator Graham: “I want to listen to her, but I’m being honest with you. . . what do you expect me to do?. . . ruin this guy’s life based on an accusation?” A brief history of rape laws puts the current debacle in context.

15/ Most of this info was available, but the 2016 election coverage was dominated by Her Emails. Why? Because Americans weren't prepared for Russian style propaganda & disinformation. And because spreading simple lies is easier than understanding—& talking about—complex crimes.

1/ Trump's repeated use of the word “collusion” is a deliberate ploy to draw us away from what actually happened and create a fiction. In fact, Trump was a tool and a tactic. The Russians had a strategy and a plan. The strategy was to turn the U.S. into a country like Russia.

8/ You see, the Trumps had never actually added value; they took advantage of situations. It was clear from Fred Trump's testimony in front of the Senate that he thought himself clever for finding the loopholes. And he was indignant that anyone dared accused him of crimes.
