His position is that because he won't be talking about the latter at the conference it's okay for him to be there, and that is not true.

I literally cannot believe that I am getting people arguing that it might still be okay for him to be there. Do you know any black people?
-
This is like when we made Eich quit Mozilla. There are views we have decided are unacceptable and we will ostracize you for having them.
-
Think it's okay to have those views but not talk about them? That's fine, but we are on opposite sides of a moral divide. I like my side.
-
Do you think if the organizers of the conference were black we'd be having this ludicrous debate? Remaining neutral is taking a stance.
-
During the Eich blowup I used "what if he were a racist instead of a homophobe?" as a strawman to help prove my point.
-
Apparently I gave some people in tech too much credit. Apparently racism is just another opinion.

@seldo From 7 years ago. What you was thinking 7 years ago? -
@montogeek I sure wasn't thinking that black people deserved to be slaves, how about you? -
@seldo Me too, but everybody has a past of which are not proud. Just keep that in mind :) -
@montogeek@seldo It’s not like he’s taking down those pages or saying he regrets them. He just wants people to pretend it wasn’t him.

@seldo After reading the 2009 blog post, I'm pretty sure he's not arguing that black people should be slaves. What makes you think he is? -
@atroche The same 2009 blog post you read. He calls it a "natural relationship". -
@seldo you realise that he's not talking about Africans and Europeans there, right, but about humans in general? And “natural” != “right”

@seldo good lord this is so long and dull. Racism aside, I'd never want to hear a talk by this person.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@seldo So either you have not read the article or you´re just disingenuous. He is describing the worldview of Thomas Carlyle not his own - 1 more reply
