Keep this in mind when you write articles, build modules, design frameworks. The majority of your users are brand-new to this thing.

Think about the implications when you design for security, validation, robustness, scalability. Most of your users will not have strategies.

Showing a code example that uses ES6 syntax? Explain WTF ES6 is. Your users just turned up from browser land and have never heard of it.

@seldo@Fishrock123 so... not only explain what my post is trying to explain, but explain all the ES6 too? I'd just link to babel/learn-es6 -
@seiyria@Fishrock123 A link is fine! I see tons of tutorials just using ES6 without explaining that it won't actually run as-is. - 1 more reply

@seldo it would be particularly interesting to find out what communication channels those developers are using, and what education resources -
@thealphanerd As far as we can tell, they are swimming around in a sea of disjointed tutorials and getting very frustrated. -
@seldo sounds like something we can all work on fixing :P Maybe a better first touch on http://nodejs.org /cc@mikeal -
@seldo@mikeal This talk by@jeresig has some amazing points about how to treat new developers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VzoaJzFL3g … -
@thealphanerd@seldo@mikeal@jeresig Agreed. What is missing on http://nodejs.org is a really solid official tutorial.

@seldo@joemccann it did feel weird back in 2013 when we had the opportunity to meet the people who built Node all together in the same room -
@seldo@joemccann now my feelings are mixed. Large enterprises buying into the platform make it feel less free than it was before. -
@claudiopro@seldo if anything, the growth from 2013 has made the project infinitely better
