Leaving GitHub for another platform that is also controlled by a single company running a centralized product makes no sense to me at all.
fork git? no need, git is not the product being bought here. nevermind that microsoft contributes to the linux foundation, which means they have a stake in git as well as github. this is not going to be a big deal anyway.

yup. the days of Microsoft as the enemy of Open Source are basically gone. while they still keep a few cards to their chest, the amount of soil they've ceded to community maintenance and development is remarkable.
