Please note that Collett, who you can see in that tweet paying attention to “Anglo-Saxon”, is of the English extreme right. Survive the Jive, who you’ve seen paying attention to “Anglo-Saxon”, is of the English extreme right. This is not “an American problem”.https://twitter.com/SLevelt/status/1192732553343582208 …

(plus some of us hope the reach of our public scholarship extends beyond the national borders of the country we work in, so we should take account of the impact we have elsewhere, too)

PS English extreme rightist are paying attention. the Sun and the Daily Mail are paying attention. can we now please retire this nonsense myth that the problem is an American one that shouldn’t be imposed on UK scholars who should be left in peace to do their work “apolitically”?

I am so confused by this. Is it not clear to all that a) this is all getting current traction among the far right here? And b) that the far right connects through social media across national boundaries, so that a far right problem in the US is surely linked up to groups here?

right! the position is so risibly untenable, I cannot get my head around the amount of self-delusion that must be required to keep on repeating it. so much white innocence at play

It is irresponsible for scholars to remain entrenched in their use of the term AS in their work, and their colleagues all over the world are seeing it.

Exactly, and yet so many white scholars are hand wringing over getting rid of a term they think is more accurate and completely ignoring the attacks from white supremacists against our colleagues.
