Where's my "Who cares? I don't put my graduation date on my resume either." option?
-
HR people and hiring managers have google too. They are going to figure this out real quick. *Everyone* including my daughter has unconscious bias in hiring decisions. I'm thinking to make a case against it.
-
Is this a sign that I'm also getting too old?

Redditors too afraid of me to let me post. Cowards. Hence the other tweet asking someone to post for me. How embarrassing is that, a woman who's been in InfoSec since working on a UNIX IDS in 1996.
-
This is just somewhat dumb. Remember when things like this didn't matter on the intartubes? Bah I say.
-
Shhh, the redditors don't know I've infiltrated with a very masculine and slightly violent and intolerant persona. No tracing it. Burner bought with cash. Hahaha! Gathering data now. Might be a great blog.

“Wow, not that many women got tech degrees back then”. If she has been in the field since a degree in the 80s, likely pretty senior.
-
I plan on using this poll in my
@DianaInitiative talk - "Age Like a Fine Wine not a Fine Whine", but I do need RTs to prevent me from having bad info from awesome followers - thus blowing sunshine when it is not true. I worry being overly positive. -
Also, even my daughter was hiring for a role recently, and the candidate woman was older, and the doubts she had were... disturbing. Houston we have a problem :(
-
I wonder if people would consider a 50-60yo woman (presumably with grown children) to be preferable to 20-50 more likely to have younger children for some roles.
-
My daughter, who I raised, has unconscious bias. I think we all do. Other interesting thing is young men are tending to want to be more involved in their children's upbringing. In reality, this is the thing that could change root cause for bias.
-
I have a pro gen X bias, probably stronger anti-millennial than anti-boomer. I don’t really care about gender. I am pretty biased toward competent at tech even for non-tech roles.
-
I feel the same way ryan. I'm a strong GENx bias and don't weigh sex as another bias. I'm a director and have several men and women on my staff who were chosen as skillful candidates. Some of the best people I could ever hire are in their mid 40's!

She graduated with a tech degree in the 80’s? I’d be curious to know what that was in the 80s... is that like reading a book on C all the way thru?
-
It was using a card punch to code. Mainframe coding at IBM. It was working on a UNIX IDS in 1996.
-
I've seen a lot of problems before. It's like watching a re-run, where you know how it ends up. BTW, most problems relate to arrogant management, failure to comment code and asshattery in general :)

I cant put enough love on this comment. It sums it all up
